Myeik is a city in Tanintharyi Region in Myanmar, located in the extreme south of the country on the coast of an island on the Andaman Sea. As of 2010 the estimated population was over 209,000.The city is prime for tourist development. It sits on the shore of the sea compare to Dawei, which is inland. The mangroves are great for bird watching. Most of these islands can only be accessed by foreigners on organised tours, which sail from Myeik (shorter trips) and Kawthaung (multi-day live aboard trips).
